Mysteryland in High Contrast
02.09.2009

Against all weather predictions Mysteryland had it’s sweet sixteen birthday with some perfect festival weather. Despite a few minor drops in the morning it turned out to be a brilliant sunny day.

Earlier this year we were honored to receive an invitation from those big bosses at the Mysteryland HQ’s to host a tent at this year’s edition. So impressed by the mass success of the High Contrast stage at Trance Energy, they knew there was no other option ;-).

With a nearly exact copy of the Trance Energy stage we were ready to shake up Mysteryland big time and we brought some heavyweight big guns to the stage.
New kid on the block, Dennis Sheperd, kicked off with a nice warm-up set for those early birds. Watch out for his forthcoming single ‘Freefalling’ on High Contrast together with partner in crime, Cold Blue.
Dennis got the audience already in the right mood when our bootyshakin’ boy Cliff Coenraad stepped into the DJ booth. While the tent started to fill up already at this early festival hour Cliff dropped his own bombs like ’Gone South’ and of course his latest weapon of choice ‘Distorted Reality’. Did we saw some bootyshakin’ from the man himself there? :-)
Next on in was time for ‘ The Future’ Joop. Does this man ever stands still when dj-ing? Good thing the DJ booth wasn’t any bigger else we would have seen him running a marathon! Joop continued to built things on dropping nice beats and grooves, like his fresh remix for Deep Care’s new single ‘Patrone’ .
After Joop it was time for our first special guest to enter the High Contrast Arena, Simon Patterson. This boy is dropping some serious fire lately with his tunes and showed once more he is one to watch for the near future. Simon stepped up a gear with his energetic trance sound.
After Simon it was time for the man who has not only the trance scene at his feet at the moment, but also the progressive and house scene are raving about his productions. Yes, it was time for mr. Wippenberg. The man who conquered the world with his Chakalaka beats. No wonder the place nearly exploded when he dropped his magical tune. Also the lucky ones, who were there, heard his soon to be released new single. Watch this space for updates on this new Wippenberg-monster!
While Wippenberg played his last record, another heavyweight entered the stage…, Nic Chagall. He gave the crowd no time to catch their breath, continuing where his buddy Wippenberg left and the crowd loved it! Giving them what they wanted he served up his battle weapons such as his remix of Dash Berlin, his single ‘What You Need’ and of course his latest hit single ‘ This Moment’, causing some mass sing along moments.
After Nic, Marco V climbed the stage. The next special guest, but then again also part of the big Be Yourself family of course. The V man and propaganda super hero left no prisoners and almost squeezed the last bit of energy from the mass crowd, playing new material from his soon to be released album Propaganda part 2 like for example the revised, updated, pimped up and polished version of Simulated. It made the place explode when Marco dropped this gem.
Last up where the last special guests of the day, Above & Beyond. Only Jono and Tony this time, so 2 of the three musketeers and despite some minor technical problems, they pulled it off. A great closing of a sunny, steamy, crazy, party hard and brilliant day.

If you enjoyed the High Contrast stage as much as we did, show your love by clicking here. Let them know what your three favorite performances were at Mysteryland this year.

We’d like to thank all the djs for their great sets and especially you, the crowd, for joining our party at Mysteryland 2009!
